As a physician, I have sworn an oath to do no harm, consider all current evidence, and respect the fundamental autonomy of each individual. I will bring this same commitment to my role as State Representative for Ohio District 24.
Primary election: May 8, 2018
I am a pediatrician who specializes in treating adolescents. Over the past 20 years, I have worked as a researcher, advocate, educator, and community organizer. Recently, I have focused on treating adolescents and young adults with opioid addiction.
I have lived in Ohio for over 40 years. I was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and moved to Upper Arlington when I was three years old. I became a U.S. citizen in 1971. I graduated from Upper Arlington High School and the University of Notre Dame. I earned my medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine.
My husband and I are both products of the public school system in Ohio. We have three children who have all attended Ohio public schools. I am also an avid cyclist who loves the outdoors and values Ohio's exemplary bike trails.
Why I'm running:
I am running to make more Ohio voices heard. A successful democracy requires balance of power and diversity of thought. I will support fair access to health care, including reproductive health. I will work to strengthen Ohio's excellent public education system. I will advocate for equal human rights. I will specifically be a voice for those struggling with addiction and work to solve the opioid crisis in Ohio.
We deserve better government
It is time for a more balanced voice at all levels of government. Fair districts are critical to achieving this goal. The role of government should be to provide for the general welfare of all of its citizens and to promote peace and justice.
